About Cagrilintide

Cagrilintide is a long-acting synthetic analogue of amylin (islet amyloid polypeptide, IAPP), the pancreatic peptide co-secreted with insulin by beta cells. Acylation extends its circulating half-life well beyond that of native amylin, which is why it is used in research designs that call for sustained rather than pulsatile receptor occupancy.

Its targets are the amylin receptor family — AMY₁, AMY₂ and AMY₃ — each formed by the calcitonin receptor (CTR) in complex with a receptor activity-modifying protein (RAMP1, RAMP2 or RAMP3).
